5th Annual CZC Golf Classic, Sept. 26

CZC’s 5th Annual Golf Classic is Friday, September 26th at The Crossings in Richmond.

2nd Annual Fall Bash, Oct. 11
CZC’s 2nd Annual Fall Bash is Saturday, October 11th from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Rolling Run Farm in Goochland (1200 Millers Lane). The Phat Albert Band will be playing, oysters and pigs will be roasted and lots of beer and wine too! The cost is $35 per person, tickets can be purchased in advance by sending a check to CZC or you can pay at the door. This was a huge event last year and a ton of fun!! All proceeds benefit CZC.

Community Awareness Music Festival cancelled
The September 21 Community Awareness Music Festival - CAM Fest 2003, for which CZC was slated to be one of the benefitting charities, has been cancelled due to weather and other contributing factors.

:: Camper Update

Comfort Zone's Reunion Camp in August was filled to capacity! A great time was had by all - learning about the lobster and participating in the ever-competitive Color War. (Go Army! Go Navy!) Plan early for next year's reunion camp in late August! Keep watchng the calendar on the web site, and remember, anyone is eligible to attend who is 7-12 years old and has attended in a previous summer.

Watch for Teen Camp October 3-5 and Camp in New Jersey October 25-27! Register today is you wish to attend either of these. Click here.

Hilary and Ginny Strauch appeared in an interview during the September 10, 2003, edition of NOW - hosted by Paula Zahn - on CNN. CZC Founder Lynne Hughes was also a participant to help tell the important role the camp is playing in helping Hilary deal with her loss. Please click here to view a copy of the transcript. Channel 6
On September 11th, Channel 6 in Richmond ran a feature on Comfort Zone's work with families affected by September 11th. Reporter Tracy Sears, who has been a volunteer, did an outstanding, emotional story! We hope to have a copy of this interview on the website shortly as well.

:: Volunteer Named Virginia Social Worker of the Year

The National Association of Social Workers, Virginia Chapter, has named our very own Jill Fitzgerald 2003 Social Worker of the Year! Jill was a founding Comfort Zone Camp Board member and has been instrumental in the formation of camp. She has been giving of her time and energy to assist with such things as camp program development, camper screening and volunteer training. Jill is a clinical social worker specializing in grief therapy and opened the Grief Resource Center in Richmond, VA in 1996. The Grief Resource Center offers information and services regarding grief therapy. We are truly lucky to have Jill and her expertise in the “zone”, the “camp zone”.
