Have you ever made friends that within 24 hours you feel like you have known them your whole life? Have you ever connected with people who understood you without you even saying a word?

Comfort Zone Camp invites children ages 7-17 who have experienced the death of a loved one to join us for a unique weekend experience

Imagine a bubble where the rest of the world ceases to exist and there are friends, feelings and fun all mixed together. This is the world we create for campers at Comfort Zone Camp.

Comfort Zone Camp is a free, safe and fun weekend camp where children come together with a dedicated adult volunteer for a weekend of unconditional love and support to honor their loss and their loved one. Children have the unique opportunity to drink in the incredibly important message that they are not alone, gain tools that will help them in their day-to-day grief journey and put smiles on their faces!

Lynne Hughes started these camps because her mother died when she was 9 and her father died when she was 12. She didn’t know she wasn’t alone and she didn’t know she would be okay. Lynne wanted to create a fun place where kids could meet other kids with similar experiences, get back to being kids again and create a community where they could come back year after year.

Since 1999, Richmond, Virginia based Comfort Zone Camp, the nation’s largest bereavement camp, has held over 50 camps and had more than 2,000 grieving children from across the country attend their camp programs. We expanded our reach after the tragic events of September 11th and started a satellite program for children who lost a loved one that day. We have held 15 camps in the NY/NJ area and now those camps are open to any grieving children. We have also had children who lost a loved one as a result of the war attend our camps from around the country.

Our camps are free of charge and we provide travel scholarships for the camper and a parent or guardian to accompany them. For more information, camper applications and more, visit our website at www.comfortzonecamp.org or call us toll free at 866-488-5679. Also attached are our camp dates, information sheet and parent testimonials.

We hope you will consider sending your child. It would be an honor to give back to your family who has given so much to each one of ours.
