CZC Support Groups – Adult and Child/Teen Sessions
When? Monday nights, 7:00 – 8:00 p.m., September 29 – November 17, 2008

Who? Children and teens (ages 5 – 18) who have lost a parent, guardian or sibling are welcome to attend. Adults who have lost a spouse or a child are also welcome to attend.

When a loved one dies, children and adults are faced with a wide variety of emotions and feelings, often all at different times. These new emotions and challenges of grief are very difficult pieces to fit into daily life.
Many experts have shown that bereaved children, without the benefit of a healthy support system, have higher rates of depression, anxiety, and behavioral problems.
To meet these ongoing needs, Comfort Zone Camp® is expanding its grief support services to include age appropriate support groups for children and their parents throughout the year. This CZC program provides the whole family a therapeutic support network with age-based support groups to address the specific grief issues of children, adolescents, and their parents.
CZC Children's Support Groups are identified by age so that each group is able to focus on the bereavement needs and development challenges with same-aged peers. These separate age-based groups continue to be the most beneficial way for children/adolescents to express their grief and gain the support of peers who have experienced the depth of their loss.
CZC Adult Support Groups continue to offer two distinct formats for parents who have lost a child and parents who have lost a spouse/significant other. While both types of losses are extremely difficult, they also have unique struggles and challenges. Creating separate adult groups honors the uniqueness of the loss and provides tools to help along the grief journey.
The children’s and the parent’s groups will be held at the same time to meet the needs of the whole family. All groups are supervised by licensed grief therapists, experienced in their particular age groups. While there is no fee to attend, pre-registration is required.
